We Drove the 2026 World Cup at MetLife Stadium
Between June 13 and July 19, 2026, MetLife Stadium hosted eight matches of the FIFA World Cup — group-stage fixtures, a Round of 32 tie, a Round of 16 tie, and the Final itself, where Spain beat Argentina 1–0 after extra time in front of a capacity crowd. It was the single largest sustained transportation event this region has ever handled.
We ran it. Airport pickups for international supporters landing at Newark, JFK and Teterboro. Hotel shuttles out of Manhattan, Jersey City and the Meadowlands. Multi-vehicle group moves on final weekend, when every road into East Rutherford was managed and the usual routes simply did not apply.
That experience does not expire with the tournament. Giants and Jets home games, stadium concerts and international friendlies all present the same problem in smaller form: one venue, 82,500 seats, and a road network that was never built for it. We already know how it behaves at maximum load.
